ARTIST STATEMENT

Prelude
This is a little prelude to my portfolio and some insight to my ideas and concepts I portray in my work. These are my inner thoughts and even thought they seem abstract and surreal at first respect that they are coming for an unusual mind.

History
Aurora, Colorado, this is where I spent the first 13 years of my life. Warmheartedly look back this time in my life where happiness is achieved with such little effort, and thoughts were clear, fresh, and simple. I love to look back at these memories In order to achieve simple, clear thoughts again, but also to react with a youthful mind and leaving the mental belongings that way increasingly way me down with every experience. I think many under-estimates this way of thinking.
I moved to the west suburbs of Chicago when I was 13. Socially adjusted to care free hardly hard environment to a place with completely different social beliefs and methods of interaction. I guess this is when many of my socially tendencies emerged; I was the quiet kid/loner, “you know, that under cover stoner”. I went to a school where distance was not uncommon, where everyone was separated into their segregated categories; for the most part, I observed my high school from a distant perspective, well I would at least try to think I did . I learned what seems to be so little in high school, compared to the realization that the world is a so much vast space. I went to Columbia College Chicago right after high school, now at college of Dupage, and Columbia bound again this coming fall.

Artist statement 9/10/2005
I am a local artist battling the concept of blind faith. Many look far and wide for directions to places will never find. Many try to become something their not, while many who desperately want to be something and can never be. All we can do is have faith. Faith in our actions, belief in our work, and the understanding of how this all affects the development a unique mind; one with who we were and what we want to be. Faith puts us on the edge of cliffs, ready to drop us for what we believe in, so naturally the first challenge is to fly on our own. By observing others’ acts of blind faith, I can benchmark my progress while reflecting on my artistic as well as my personal growth. Whether the past has brought pain or happiness, this observation has helped me understand my part of the living, breathing being that is art.

Artist statement 11/23/2005
I see now that adolescence was an important time of my development, full of lush discoveries of personal identity. I hope I can still remember who I am now when I grow old, but it seems unlikely. If society continues going on day-after-day without ever looking back, we are doomed to repeat the same mental isolation many of our predecessors embodied. Will this generation be able to break the cycle? The majority of my generation is so clearly unmotivated and careless with their actions. I feel like I’m living in a society where the youth’s vision extends no further than the route to and from their local high school. There is so much more to see when you open your eyes. I’ve crafted my own vision: a goal of destination. In my lifetime, I may never see the benefits of my actions reflected in culture, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t something worth working for if I believe in it. It amazes me that there is some kind of faith that can be distinguished inside of everyone whether it is in your family, your friendships, or your local unity. Unfortunately, many choose to proceed in life without it. Lets start embodying a lifestyle where people think for themselves and believe in their own decisions. I want to believe that there are others with similar value sets and together we can collaborate to make a foundation for something that is far greater than the people behind it.
